RAID 1 (Mirrored) - Scan Disk Failed - Help
« on: May 10, 2010, 06:58:15 AM »

I just upgraded to firmware release 1.08 from 1.06.

I'm configured for Raid 1 (Mirrored) with two 1TB WD Drives which have been working flawlessly since purchase.

I noticed that Scan Disk was a new feature of 1.08, so I ran the scan disk utility.

I received an error stating "FAILED" without any further information give.

What exactly does this "FAILED" message mean? How do I recover from this failure?

Thanks in advance for any assistance,

Peter

Make sure you have backups. :D

I'm not sure if this would be triggered by detected file system errors or physical disk errors, but you could try checking the disks individually with WD diagnostic tools to rule out the later. This would involve putting the disks in a SATA PC or USB enclosure to access them.

As suggested, make sure you've got backups either way.
