Ok, heres the deal, i have had my dgl 4500 for a lil over a year now, first year everything seemed to work fine, now all of a sudden im getting constant dropping of my xbox live, I have tried everything in these forums to no prevail, do these things really only have a year life?  What kind of gamer router costs 250.00 bucks and only last a year.  Im not even sure the unit is going out, i have no problems staying connected on my desktop to the internet through wired, just constant wireless drops and my drops from my world series of poker 2008/bad company 2 xbox 360 games also running off wired connections.  One thing i havent tried was upgrading to new beta firmware, was weary about that bc of all the complaints....so should i upgrade to 1.21 03 or 1.22na.  This **** is really frustrating lol, i cant sit at a online tournament table in poker for more then 20 mins or so without being booted.  Like i said, i've tried most suggestions, resetting to factory defaults, turning off all the things that could be causing the problem, opening ports, shutting down ports opened, setting up gamefuel, disabling gamefuel...nothing seems to be fixing the constant boot im getting while in a game...am i just screwed over by dlink, or somebody know something not already posted in these forums that i can try?????  PS thanks for putting out a faulty product dlink, dont think for one minute im buying your bs "built for gamers" line again on your next product. Oh ya just  thought of something else, i did upgrade to windows 7 on the main pc connected to the router, does this have anything to do with it you think?

v1.21 version was not stable and had hang and drop issues. Upgrade to v1.22NA. I've had my 1st 4500 for almost 4-5 years now, only issues have been configuration and FW issues with the builds. The HW of the 4500 is stable. Also if your gaming over wifi, I would recommend reviewing the Gaming and Gamefuel sticky in this forum for setting the 4500 up for general and gaming use. It's worked well for me and others. Let us know how it goes.

well no im connected by network cable from my xbox to router, but i do have 2 other pcs in the home that pull off that wireless signal, i guess my main problem might be the fact that i have my pc, xbox, and 2 wireless pcs in other rooms on this one router, i mean i dont ever have a problem connecting, just from time to time while im sitting at a poker table that i compiled 650k worth of chips, it boots me and im not able to save.  That and the wireless pcs have problems picking up a signal even with a n wireless card, same floor level and only 3 rooms away.  I've read about this exact unit having stability issues during high traffic, so if there is a way to boost the wireless signal without taking away from my xbox connection other then the gamefuel/game rule settings, that would be great.  I went home at lunch today, upgraded to 1.22na, setup gamefuel/rule settings for xbox, reserved my xbox/pc's dhcp, unchecked spi, dynamic fragmentation, and upnp.  So i'll let you know more tomorrow on how all that went, maybe if someone could post some picks of each settings page i might be able to figure out if im doin a configure error, but still yet, this router during default settings with no gamefuel/game rules set shouldnt be kicking me from my connection.  Its not just poker either, i getted booted sometimes 3 times in one bad company 2 multiplayer map.  Although, i've heard that game has some faults on its own, so i dont know, just trying to pinpoint this annoying problem.

The random hang and boot issues were apart of the v1.21 series of FW build. Ever since v1.22NA was released, i've had no issues of hangs or re-boots since. As for stability of the 4500 during high traffic and downloads, I have downloaded numerous large files including in house network, bit torrents and other files and have not had the download stop, re-start or become corrupt. I DL'd BF2 game (5Gb) over Wifi Mode N only at 5Ghz to my MacBook Pro while at work and it correctly downloaded the entire file. I believe the 4500 is very stable while using good FW. Yes, I was disappointed in v1.21. V1.22 has made up for it.

You can PM me and send me your configuration file if you like and I can check it over for you. I've often done this for others.

Over all I hope this helps.

FWIW, once I upgraded to 1.22 my problems went away even during heavy use.  I like doing a factory restore, then upgrade the firmware and re-enter all the settings by hand instead of restoring a config file.

Netflix blue ray player
7 pcs
2 iphones
2 xbox 360s
2 wireless printers
2 dvrs

All that and none miss a beat.
