How to get Acronis Backup to Work after 1.08 upgrade
« on: May 23, 2010, 05:33:40 PM »

Hi All,

I have finally taken the plunge and upgraded my firmware from 1.04 to 1.08 and upgraded my HDD's from 2x500GB drives to 1x2TB Samsung Spinpoint F3EG EcoGreen HDD 32M and 1x500GB drives.

All has gone well, it took about 18hours to copy 500GB over to the 2TB drive @ a speed of 7.4 MB/s

So I have 5 computers, 2 x desktops and 3 x Laptops, 1 Laptop runs as my server so it is password protected, I added an account to the DNS323 and it works great, Acronis Scheduled Backups run fine.

The other 4 computers do not have password protected accounts so I have made a generic account on the DNS323 and run a script on each computer to map a drive on the DNS323 this all works great until I try to backup these computers with Acronis Scheduled Backups.

When I run a Manual Backup it all works fine but if I schedule the same backup that worked it no longer works and I get an error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password", this is happening to all non password protected account computers.

These backups all worked before the firmware upgrade so how do I get Acronis Scheduled Backups to work again?

I have tried creating the backup job while not connected to the DNS323 so that I have to enter a logon name and password, this works fine when creating the job but I get the same error when the job runs.

I have tried mapping a drive to the DNS323 and creating a backup job that points to the drive letter but when the job runs I get the same error message again.

Anyone able to help?
Thanks
R.

Scheduling doesn't work without passwords.

Simple solution.  Password protect the computers.

Run control userpasswords2 and configure the computers for automatic login, since I suspect the reason you don't have passwords is the annoyance of typing it in when you boot, right? ;)
