Strange Situation: Winamp Remote + DAP-1522 + Xbox 360
« on: August 23, 2009, 03:04:34 PM »

Hey all,

So here's the deal:

DGL-4500 fw: 1.15
DAP-1522 fw: 1.02 (I get better wireless transfer rate with the older firmware)

My 1 xbox 360 is upstairs plugged directly into the DGL-4500

The computer I'm hosting Winamp Remote (aka Orb) on is downstairs hooked through the DAP-1522.  I can share files and see other computers on the network just fine.  I can even see the Xbox as well.

The problem is:  The xbox 360 upstairs cannot see the Orb sharing.   My xbox 360 downstairs plugged into the DAP-1522 can see it just fine.

All of the ip addresses are reserved and filesharing works among the computers, so I have no idea why I can't see the Orb share on the upstairs 360...could it be a firmware issue releating to Upnp?

Thank you,

Fo

Does this happen when you use Windows Media Player?

Yes. It saw the computer but couldn't connect to it. Yet, I'm on the upstairs computer and I can browse shared folders and copy files just fine.  (Just copied the lastest BF2 patch from my downstairs computer to this one over the network through shared files)

The firewall on the computer downstairs is disabled.  It's running a fresh copy of Windows 7 too.

I used to have no problem with my dgl-4300

I'm also able to use media streaming through windows media player to the upstairs computer...I'm listening to my music library right now...

I notice that it takes several minutes for the Xbox to see the computer name, while the pc has no problem finding it.

I ran into this issue again.  I'm wondering what would happen if I got the latest firmware for the DAP and then MAC cloned the MAC address from the router.

I read some things about the xbox grabbing stuff in the subnet, but I'm not sure.

I'm getting 66% signal 162mb rate to the router.  The upstairs 360 is plugged directly into the router.  So is it a communication issue between the dgl-4500 and the dap-1522?
