Request for Firmware 1.03 Source Code
« on: November 20, 2009, 02:56:43 AM »

I downloaded the source files but they are the 1.00 version.  Could you please post the 1.03 firmware version?

Thanks,
Joe

Why not get it directly from the D-Link support pages, that's where I got my 1.03 release.

You'll have to wait a bit, it appears they're down at the moment. :)

Are you takling about GPL?

We don't release 'source files' on any of our firmware since we do not entirely use GNU GPL. We release what falls under that category in the GPL on our ftp site. I'll double check the files but they should be 1.03.

Ah... correct!  I didn't see the word "source" there. :D

Yes, GPL source (I'll take all the source you got).  I downloaded the source files a few days ago, they appear to be original release.  Hope I'm not wrong.

Thanks for checking on this.

You know, if I get this thing going I plan to let you test it.  Then you can tell me if how you liked it and I can load my NAS next.  ;D

That's not a good attitude to have, especially since you said we all get along here. If yer gonna bring enough for one, ya have to bring enough for everyone, including the large ones with bad attitudes that know yer address!  ;)  ;)  ;D

Ryder,
You're included so yea, if yours and GRJ's NAS's aren't bricked then I'll try it myself and then I guess we could share.  I know he has at least two NAS's so he's the perfect one to test it  ;D Of course I'm only kidding, I don't want to see any bricked device.  Been through that with my router and it's no fun.  But to be honest, I really would like to give it to D-Link as well so they could rubber stamp it and formally include the changes.  They would only need the changed source files, examine it, and compile something they trust.  Too many kids are out there putting in malicious code.

So if I can obtain all the files I need to build the firmware, I'll get crackin.  I work with about 30 people who write and test unix and VX Works code for military applications where nuclear safety is involved so they know what they are doing and I can get help from them when I'm stuck.  I also need to figure a way around bricking my NAS.  I think I saw a J-Tag point on the bottom of the circuit board next to an unknown 4 pin connector.

We will have to wait and see.  I'm in no hurry because no one like a pice of crap software.  Once I can compile a working fimware, and only then, I will post something asking for suggestions/corrections to include.

I confirmed that the source code on the website was the original release, not the current version 1.03.  I didn't see anything missing from it that would not allow it to compile properly, no D-Link propietary files seem to be missing but I've got to say, there are a ton of files.  All the menus are there as well.

DLM:  If there are some missing files, would you please let me know.  When looking at the build info it seamed like everything was here.  When I try to build this original version, I'll see what errors I get.

Firmware 1.03 GPL? Still not posted.
« Reply #9 on: December 23, 2009, 11:31:15 AM »

@ D-Link Multimedia

I have still not seen the GPL source updated on the http://tsd.dlink.com.tw/ModelDocu.asp?SourceType=&sno=DFNHDKGL site.  I've been checking periodically but only the original source is still there.  Any chance this will be updated soon?  Also, what flavor of Linux was the firmware built in?  I would like to keep it the same if possible.

From a DEV perspective, (no offense to the mod's), I think the lights are on and no one is at home.  I would like to see the updated UPNP server source and fix it.  D-Link's media servers are not UPNP certified (www.upnp.org).  The represents false advertising IMHO.

I agree.  I've asked several times for the updated code, one time I was told it should be there to which I agree, it should be there.  I really would like to try a minimalistic version of this code, only using parts that I use.  I don't use a lot of the added features here as my needs are minimal. Simple storage.

Very interested in this. I am having upnp issues and figure I'll have to fix them myself if at all.

The 1.03 firmware seems to be on the site now:
