Slow speeds from NAS Device using DIR-655
« on: May 28, 2010, 08:25:05 PM »

I recently purchased an Iomega NAS Device. For some reason I am having problem accessing data stored on the device.

When the device is directly connected to my PC or Mac I have no speed issues. As soon as I plug into my DIR-655 I am unable to access any files. I got an estimated time of 15 hours to copy a 700mb movie to my desktop. This is over wireless and ethernet. I have also tested the media server from my PS3 and I am unable to play any MP3 files or movies.

The strange thing is that I can copy files onto the device with no problems. For instance it would only take a few seconds to copy a large movie.

Any advice would be appreciated otherwise I am going to think about purchasing a new router.

You really need to share your router settings. There's a ton of them that can cause this. Also it's quite common that the auto detect (LAN/WAN) settings on both the NAS and router can be a cause. This happens quite often with every brand or make. So don't be disappointed and get a new router, just post your settings and fiddle around with the auto detection features of both devices. Networking is still miles away from issueless plug and play, just keep that in mind.
