I just had to rehook up my wii and I went into my router and got the new wpa key ..copied it and Had a HELL of a
time getting a connection so i went back into the router and when i went to check the ssid and the key..the key had change ..Could this of been an old page in my browser!!..I have never had this happen before..I had changed the key about a month ago and swear i retrieved it from my router for other device reconnection setting...thanks for any advice one might have in advance.

What do you mean the key had changed?
You can't copy the key from the web browser and save it as it is masked by dots.
The Passwords have to be typed in. Your browser probably had it cached.
Try using a different browser like Opera or FF.

no the key was in clear text and I copied two of them..the first was wrong because i  printed it out..the second key was correct that i copied with clear text..if you go to top tab setup and the click wireless settings on the side menu and then go to "wireless network setting" button and proceed to step two you will get a page that shows your current settings including the current key in plain text.  My keys are 64 bits long..i get them generated at the steve gibson site...thats what happened.  Also i was using firefox to access my router and lastpass to prefill the login fields...so my I could see the chronology of events by the date stamps..I use cccleaner at least once in the last month with almost all option fields check..so my question is?  How did that happen...I have to read up on how these pages are cached because i am 90 percent sure that i got a cached page or a redirect...in both cases I had assumed that I had these kind of events covered.  If it was a cached page..I cannot explain it and worst yet  if iI had a  redirect I have security problems on my home network.  Why would that page show an older key..?  I was hoping for an explanation from someone who knows the dir 628..thanks

Are you using WEP or WPA?
WPA and WPA 2 is preferred and inputing your own Password.

I am using Security Mode 2 : Auto (WPA or WPA2) - Personal

Cipher Type : TKIP and AES

Well if your using WPA and auto security, the password field should be filled with dots when entering in a password and it shouldn't be clear text. The password doesn't have to long and recommend at least 8 characters.

What FW version is currently loaded on the router?

and here is the screen shot of that page...if you look carefully you will see a key generated in clear text.

well i could not insert an image..when i click on "insert image" it just paste in img tags..but i can assure you that on that page the key generated is a 64 bit key..but it is generated each time i enter the wizard "in other words it changes each time i enter step two of the wizard if i choose manual setup it automatically assigns a key"...and it is in clear text..i wish i could insert the screen shot..anyways now i know this is not the correct key but a generated key..but how would it know to generate a 64 bit key???..it must generate it by default and it was a conincidence that I already had generated a 64 bit key..
If i click save at that point it assigns a new key!!!..I can't remember if  I did or not?  So that explains the changing key mystery..I went into that wizard assuming it was reading the existing key and IT WAS NOT DOING THAT.

I see your using the wizard. I recommend manually inputing a PW for WPA, that way you know what it is and it can be anything too. Enjoy.
