Custom DDNS
« on: August 19, 2009, 04:25:57 AM »

Hi,

In the 1.32NA firmware, there is an option to specify a DDNS server (rather than select an item from the drop-down list).

Does anyone know what the format for this field should be or whether it still only supports the services in the drop-down?

What I'm trying to do is set up DDNS updates for ZoneEdit, which requires them in the form:

http://username:password@dynamic.zoneedit.com/auth/dynamic.html?host=www.mydomain.com

Any help would be much appreciated!

Regards,

Dan

Enable Dynamic DNS: " click "

Server Address: www.dyndns.com (free)

Host Name: (danshome.dyndns.com)

Username or Key: "user name"

Password or Key: " password "

Verify Password or Key: "password "

Timeout: (hours) tex 240 that is the same as 10 days

Status: Connected

Set up a acount on dyndns.com
http://www.dyndns.com/services/wizard/free-domain-name.html?joinnow=yes

Then connect with: http(s)://danshome.dyndns.com:"port number if you don't choise 80 or 443"

then your are done

Try this:

Server address: dynamic.zoneedit.com
Username or Key: <your zoneedit username>
Password or Key: <your zoneedit password>
Verify Password or Key: <your zoneedit password>

If it does not work you can try dns-o-matic service. Among the services it supports, zoneedit is one. I wrote a guide on how use it with DIR-655.

Thanks,
I actually have my own domain, so dyndns does not work unless I paid for the extra...

Tried and not work.
I just drop an email to Zoneedit as well as Joker (where I purchase the domain) to see if they have anything for this method of DDNS update.

Try this:

Server address: dynamic.zoneedit.com
Username or Key: <your zoneedit username>
Password or Key: <your zoneedit password>
Verify Password or Key: <your zoneedit password>

Reply from ZoneEdit support saying they don't have anything for Dlink. I guess the best solution would be DNSOMatic.
