Missing files
« on: June 13, 2010, 01:47:26 PM »

I'm a seasoned IT professional who seldom loses files. I have backups of my backups. Yet for some reason I have twice lost files on my 321. The first time I chocked it up as a one time error.

Today I went to do some design work and my program could not locate a font. When I looked at the drive I found I had 1 font out of 16,964 fonts. When I transferred the fonts to begin with, I did so to the 321 so I can have many machines access these fonts if need be. So I transferred the fonts, checked to see they were on the drive and then left it at that.

Today I go to use it, and gone, all but 1 font out of over 16,964 thousand fonts. Thankfully I'm anal about backing up my files so I had a DVD off all of the fonts. Because of this I'm going to make sure that ALL of the stuff that is on there is backed up on DVD and stored away just in case.

I'm using Firmware Version: 1.02.

Well, it would be foolish not to have backups of data on any storage device, this applies to the DNS-321 as well as any other single copy.

I've used my DNS-323 for several years, and the DNS-321 for about a year, I've never seen something like this happen.  That doesn't mean it can't happen, but it's certainly not an everyday occurrence.
