Vonage and loss of audio

I hope someone can help me with mys VOIP problem. I have Vonage for over 1 year and never had problems with dropped calls/loss of audio until I got DIR655 router about one month ago. I used to have Linksys WRT45G and a Linksys PAP2 phone adapter and they always worked fine with Vonage. I decided to get a faster router and got the DIR655 and started experiencing loss of audio right away where I can't hear the other party or they can't hear me. This usually happens after a few minutes on the phone even without any other activities on the Internet and with both cord/cordless phones. I called Vonage and they told me to try a different phone adapter so I bought D-Link RTA phone adapter so that both the router and the phone adapter would be from D-link but the problem continues. The engineer from Vonage concluded the problem is with DIR655 as the same problems occurs with both Linksys and Dlink phone adapters. I have firmware 1.11 and tried port forwarding (UDP 5601, 10000-20000 as recommended by Vonage), disabled SPI, turned-off MAC filters, changed NAT endpoint filtering to endpoint independent, and tried QOS and nothing seems to work. I called D-Link and they referred me to a DIR655 product specialist. I left him several voice-mails but am still waiting for him to call me back. I really like this router except for this really annoying VOIP problem. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I'd like to get an answer on this as well.

I just ordered a DIR-655 today and use Vonage as well for voice and fax.

Currently using a WRT54GL (WRT firmware) with absolutely no problems with Vonage.  (Cox Cable Internet)

I hope I don't have to return the DIR-655.

FWIW I've had a DIR-655 for a year now, upgraded it through several firmware versions, 1.11 right now, and Vonage has always worked perfectly. I have a Cisco ATA 186 adapter.

Mine works OK too. 655 plugs to a Motorola cable modem on Shaw, couple of PCs hardwired to the 655 as well as the D-Link Vonage box. The remaining port goes to a switch with a bunch of secondary wired devices (Replay, Media Lounge, etc). QOS gives Vonage priority over all else. Ports are configured as needed. Running 1.11 firmware with only occasional problems of network slowdown, usually cured by a total system reboot. A little irritating but non-critical.

A tech call to Vonage had them throttle the VOIP bandwidth, which also helps some.

Hi,

Personally I run my vonage box inbetween my router and my cable modem...I used it for a bit off the router and decided I preferred it being in front of the router.

I did go ahead and set the DMZ on the vonage box to point to the DIR655 so it passes thru most PC data, or at least its sposed to do so...
