Real VNC - Port Forwarding
« on: July 01, 2010, 01:40:26 PM »

I am using a router DIR-628
Firmware : 1.24NA

I just got myself Real VNC Enterprise edition.
I have to setup my router so it forward a port to my computer.

I have tried the option PORT FORWARDING and VIRTUAL SERVER. Both seems to do approx. the same thing.

I select the computer to which I want to forward and then enter the port I have choosen.

When I test my VNC server I get this:

Connection test failed.

VNC Server appears to be behind a NAT router with IP address Host: nettest.realvnc.com. You will need to configure that router to forward port 666 to this computer before you can connect to VNC Server over the Internet.

Like I said I have tried every possible option on that router interface and I am still getting a Connection test failed. As if nothing was getting forwarded.

Any bright light around here could enlighten me as to how to fix this problem?

My main goal here is to run VNC on my computer and connect remotely with my laptop when I am away and also connect with my Iphone.

I just need to get past this damn error.

It would be really appreciated if anyone could give me a pointer. Thanks in advance!

Have you check with the product manual and/or help option on the VNC application?
