DIR-655 support for IPTV
« on: March 07, 2008, 12:56:15 AM »

Hi,

I've been playing with my new router, and it seems it doesn't have support for IP TV... :(

I'm saying this, as to use this router as the only router at home (without the one provided by the provider serving as modem), I would need to be able to configure a specific PVC to the IP TV LAN port...

From what I've been seeing with other users of my provider, the LAN port of the IP TV should be configured as VPI 0 / VCI 37, while the normal ADSL LAN ports should be VPI 0 / VCI 35. Also the LAN port for the IP TV should have ATM Traffic Class VBR-rt, which I believe is different from the normal ADSL connection.

The routers other users that use my ISP are all model/routers. Is this a requirement? That is, there is no chance that DIR-655 would support different PVCs for each LAN port?

Regards,

Miguel

No. You would need modem (Bridge) to connect to your router.

A modem is the the requirement. Allows you to authenticate to your provider, if I am guessing right about your ISP.

No chance.
