wakkas,
Hey, thanks for the advice on the playon server. I installed it and movies definately play better then through the "default" server. Movies that wouldn't play at all now play well, movies play with the sound sync'd to the action and now I can pause, stop and rewind all movies where as before it was hit or miss. I even managed to stream Itunes songs which I wasn't able to before.
It looks like the playon server utilizes VLC to stream the media. VLC can play a lot of formats. I"ll probably be able to play movies unconverted from my digital camera which I've always had to convert before! That's a huge bonus.
The only thing it wouldn't play is DRM .WMA tunes I get from Napster. That's not a big issue because the default windows media server plays them fine.
I also had no problems playing some of the internet media as well. I was watching some PBS and CNN shows. I'm not really interested in Internet TV (at least not yet) but it's nice to know I can access this stuff with the D-link media server (for a price).
