Author Topic: Is this Bridge Compatible with a Verizon FiOS Router? I lose connection a bit..!  (Read 5783 times)

Ok well here's what happened.

When I bought this product I wanted to use it as a bridge to connect my PC AND my PS3 to. Now, granted it worked, ....Oddly.

The setup did not help at all, and I couldn't even LOG INTO THE ROUTER! When I put the IP address it couldn't find it. I followed one thing on some website about changing my IP address. It did work with me getting into the routers configuration, but then I couldn't even get internet connection with the Verzion FiOS router. So really all I did was I hit that connect button, on the side of the bridge. I let it blink and waited till it stopped blinking. I unplugged it from the router, brought it to my room and connected my PS3 and PC into and VIOLA! It worked, perfectly.

However, every now and then I lose connection for like, 1 second or so... I would really like to know what the problem is. I originally used Linksys Products to connect my devices. My PC was connected through a USB Wi-Fi adapter, and my PS3 through the Linksys Gaming Adapter.

Please be slow with me, for I'm not really smart at ALL with Networking. It's my weakest subject in PC's..

Thanks in Advance and please help ASAP!! ^_^

Do you loose the connection randomly or periodically (for example every hour) ?
You should also look at the log menu of the DAP-1522 (and your router) and see if you can find any more information about what happens.

I lose it randomly, but it's only for like 1-2 seconds. I can't log into the DAP 1522 Menu as I said before though.

To log on the DAP-1522 menu, if you are connected via cable, you must know the IP address of the DAP-1522 (the default should be 192.168.0.50) and the PC from which you are connecting must have an IP address from the same subnet (for example 192.168.0.51).
Sometimes I loose the (wireless) connection with my DAP-1522 (I still don't know why) and I have to restart my router to re-establish it.
If you want to access the DAP-1522 via wireless and you think that it is working correctly, to find the IP address you could also log into you router and see if it is listed somewhere (wireless clients list, DHCP leases, ...), or you could find it with some network discovery software.
If your DAP-1522 has an old firmware, you should consider updating it to the latest version (be aware that version 1.21 will not work correctly with Firefox browser, the wireless network settings menu will be missing), maybe the issue you are experiencing was resolved with a new firmware.
For the connection drop issue, you should also try to move the DAP-1522 do a different position or change the orientation, or change the wireless channel used in your router, sometimes that can help improve the signal strength. Sometimes.

Yeah well, I'm not so savvy with networking as I said before. I know about IP and Subnet, but I've tried logging in before, and it said it could NOT find it, with THAT IP address. I dunno, it hasn't lost connection today, so I'll leave it be. If it does lose connection again I'll try that out though.
