How many simultaneous connections can this router handle?
« on: July 19, 2010, 11:14:49 PM »

I'm using p2p applications but I'm having problems due to the number of simultaneous connections these applications are set to. I've looked in the docementation and it doesn't say anything about how many simultaneous conncections this router can handle. Does anyone know?

P2P connections tend to be limited in the P2P "client" software and "hard code" (ie: limit set permanently) in the Windows.  As of Windows XP SP2, Microsoft has tweaked the networking TCP/IP stack so as the "improve" the network response.  This was done by request from several ISPs in order to limit the potential Internet speed "damage" that P2Ps can cause. (BOGUS!!!)   Look for several other web site that can give your the step by step instruction on how the "tweak" this for your "needs."

I already know how to tweak them. I just don't know how many connections I can allocate to each program because I don't know the number of simultaneous connections this router can handle. Possibly 200 I'm thinking because the way it is behaving. Supposedly, the Netgear WNDR3700 can handle up to 200,000! I need to know the exact number so I can milk it for all I can get since it is obviously a low number!
