Dropping internet connection when turning PS3 on?

Ok,this has been driving me a little crazy lately. It seems like when I turn on my PS3, my internet connection drops. This has never happened to me before. I just updated the firmware on router to 1.9.
Can anyone tell me the proper way to set this thing up so I do not drop my connection? I have been having to reset my modem almost every single time this happens. I plan to pick up the 4500 very soon,just have to use this for now.
