hoping someone knows the answers to this.. seems like other have had similar problems. tried most the fixes I read but still can't get it to work.

I have one brandnew Linksys/Cisco WRT310N wireless router, a Dell 4500 with 2.4mhz processor, Windows XP, SP3 just reinstalled this week on re-formatted 80GB primary drive.  I just bought a D-Link DCS920 wirelss camera.  Took me FOREVER to get the router to see it via pure wireless connetion but got that much done now.  Now the problem is I can see the camera through the wireless router on the DLink std software at 192.168.1.120 over port 80.  However, I CANNOT seem to get D-View Cam 2.04 to see the video.  It finds the camera OK but ever after finding it the link is grayed out and the "view" keeps saying "connecting" without ever doing so.

I used to use some old DCS-900 & 900W cameras to watch some things around the house but have junked those some time ago in favor of some newer stuff.  Would buy a few more 920's if I could get this one to work.  I really need the motion sensing recording to work for security issues around here.

The Linksys router is setup with WPA security.  The connection key has been checked several times and is correct. I enabled a secondary port number of 81.  I have been through every window and even re-installed the camera and the software several times to no avail.

Any hints, tricks, thoughts?  Sure would appreciate it.

No one has replied yet to my plight. I should comment here that I have gone through all the forum emails dealing with the same thing, have tried all the fixes mentioned to date and nothing works.  Still see the streaming video from a browser but cannot see it or do motion/security recording in DView Cam 2.04

Suggestions and help very appreciated before I head to dump it back at Best Buy and steer clear of D-Link from now on.

D-Link does have technical supports for our devices  that can be reached via email or telephone to resolve any issue you may be having.

Some things to check is to goto the information of the camera in D-ViewCam and verify the proper IP address, Username and Password, and the proper viewing port. Also if you are running any anti-virus programs on the PC try disabling and/or try verifying the D-ViewCam software is properly allowed and see if the issue persists.

Verified the former, thought I had checked the latter.  will re-check that this evening and see what I can accomplish. I appreciate the input and will go back to DLink support if we can't get any further with it.

Hello,
I'm writing to you, because i've noticed that you had exactly the same problem as i.
In fact, i bought this DCS-920 wireless camera, a TP-LINK wireless router, and a WP
When i connect to D-Viewcam it stays like <<CONNECTING>> forever and doesn't show the video.
When i check the video ,it stays video lost.
When go to quick setup and do the setting-up then it says the HW account has not been created,
When i try e-mail test it remains like<< testing>> forever and when i cancel...it rejects or says smtp error.
And the wireless does link the camera to the computer.

what the the right SMTP SERVER ADDRESS if i have a hotmail.com address?
how did you create an HW account? 
please help me with all the tips that you tried to get it work.

Do you have the same results connecting of the camera is wired to the router? What anti-virus software are you running on the PC?

seems to be a common thread here. the DCS 920 does not work and all tech support does is point the blame at you, the anti-virus, the firewall. If all these people are having the same problem it is OBVIUOSELY d-link that is the common problem

It works great on every PC I have installed it too and adding the DCS-920 was not an issue at all so I know they do work properly together as designed.

I have had no issues either with 920, but 2.03 and 2.04 are not that stable and tend to lose connection frequently. Please make sure username and password supplied during D-Viewcam setup are correct and verify via web-page whether the camera is working. Hotmail is not supported with this camera, must be SMTP-based.

Try the new V3.00 (sorry, it will be a complete new reinstall) and verify it still does not work... During setup you now can preview whether the connection works.

I followed the install according to the instructions and it's not accepting the "Admin" and "blank" password.    Is there a method to reset it on the screen?   The option is there but it's non-accessible for some reason.    Please HELP!!!

To which 'it' of the "not accepting" are you referring? D-Viewcam or the camera?
