Pc keeps trying to acuire network address
« on: August 23, 2010, 08:43:21 AM »

Hi All

Hoping someone can help me out. I recentley had virgin broadband installed. Pc connected fine but my ps3 was running really slow speeds. I rang virgin and they told me to change the channel on the router. Since I did that I am getting good speed on the ps3 buy my pc keeps saying acuiring network address. I called virging back and tried everything they suggested but still have the same problem.
Im thinking the problem is because I changed the channel on the router, But I dont want to change back to the original channel if i causes the ps3 to be really slow again.

Any help would be great   :)

Thanks
Mark.

You didn't say what OS & service pack you are running on your PC. Try deleting the existing entry for your router in the PC's wireless menu, then let it reconnect (and re-enter the passwd).

Not sure how you have the router configured, but try forcing 802.11g mode and WPA2/AES. Since you are using a ps3, it can only do up to G mode anyway.
