I have had this router for over 2 years now. It worked great until a couple months ago when it started needing the power to be recycled every week or so. I was on the verge of buying a new router until I started reading these forums. I had no clue about firmware updates. I was at 3.01 and updated it to 3.10 last night and the router works better than ever. My question is this...I have 3 laptops running off of it...one is connected at 130mps...but the other 2 are at 54mps...Is there a reason for this and what can I do to get the others up to 130mps?

you may need to go back in and recheck your settings. Something may have changed such as channel, and type of wireless. Just have a quick look in the settings.

Not really as this is quite normal. Relative speed is not fixed among clients and is dependent on signal strength. Basically consider that as speed increases, signal level decreases because same transmitter power is spread across a wider spectrum. (think of a flashlight beam, the wider the coverage of beam the dimmer the light in it field). B, G, and N will auto adjust rate per signal level and conditions to maintain a reliable connection. Also I might add that other to clients may appear to be in "G" mode or do not support N properly as G is limited to 54m. The "N" mode has no 54Mbit speed rate (52 or 58.5)

I would still suspect the 130 mpbs may just need some adjustement (I had to change the channel from 20 to 20/40 on the adapter, and that allowed 300 mpbs.

anyhow, I had an adapter DWA-130 (rev c.) and this one would not go higher than 150, but as soon as I plugged the rev A, I was up to 300. The signal strenght is anywhere between 3 bars and five bars. I may get some slight variations, but usually I go from 270 to 300 mpbs.

in order to get the 300mpbs, I followed the direction on the sticky note and it worked for me. I understand, that if the adapter is G, you will still be limited to a max of either 54 or 108 even if the router is N.
