Router settings for Gmail IMAP
« on: September 16, 2010, 04:05:56 PM »

Anyone use Gmail via IMAP?  It works fine, but sporadic disconnects on our home PC.  Outlook refuses to send an e-mail with attachments for some reason, but they go fine when there aren't any attachments.  Everything works perfectly fine on my work PC, and the Outlook settings are identical in both places.  Our home PC uses a DIR-615.B2 with 2.25FW which is the latest.

I'm thinking there's a ghost settting in there somewhere gumming up the works, but I can't find it.  I've tested out the wazoo, and I've pretty much isolated it to some sort of router issue.  Googling hasn't turned up anything yet.  Help or tips would be most appreciated.

Don't know if this will help you or not; it does run the risk of voiding your warranty.  I have been using B2 firmware version 2.27 from the D-Link United Kingdom website, www.dlink.co.uk, with fairly good results, except for the configuration reloading problem I posted elsewhere (and which has now been solved by changing the WPA encryption key).  You could try loading this firmware and seeing if it helps.

However, I suspect that your problem is somewhere else.  Is it possible that you have a port blocked somewhere?

Good luck!
