sata 1 or 2 hard drive

looking to buy dns 321 i know it says sata hdd can be put in it.just bought a sata2 hdd can it be put in it to the dns 321 to run raid or jbod?

3gb SATA drives works fine in this unit.  For RAID, don't buy any WD Advanced Format drives.

PS: RAID of any level is NOT a second copy.
