Shareport 3.0 not working
« on: September 11, 2010, 10:06:30 AM »

D-Link SharePort enabled Product Model:

D-Link Product FW Version: 1.21

Operating System being used (Windows XP?, Vista?, Win 7 32 or 64 bit, Mac OS 10.5 or 10.6, etc) including any Service Packs or 32/64 bit information: Vista Home Premium SP2 on my Desktop

SharePort Version:  3.0

USB Product (Printer, Disk Drive, or other device) Model and Driver Version:  Canon Pixma MP610

Describe the issue:  Installed Shareport Utility 3.0 and it won't connect/can't see my printer.  Shareport says "No device servers were found on the network.  Make sure your device servers are set properly."...Not sure exactly what it's looking for.  I am able to print to this same printer through the USB Shareport on my laptop using Win XP and an earlier version of Shareport Utility.  I had the same earlier version of Shareport on my desktop and it worked OK but wanted the auto connect/disconnect feature so I installed 3.0...wrong move on my part I guess

Describe the steps to reproduce the issue:  reinstalled 3.0 several times to see if it was an installation problem.  Do I need to update my firmware?  I'm nervous it will change all of my settings as everything else is working great.  Does anyone have a solution?  Thanks!

You will most likely need to update the routers firmware as well. Most of the Dlinks firmware has a feature to save your settings to your computer, and then after a firmware upgrade, load the settings again from your computer. This mitigates your fear of having to set everything up again.

I'd suggest looking into it.
