Awful Router and support
« on: September 23, 2010, 08:50:21 AM »

I ordered both this items (DAP-1522/B and DIR-825/B) to run multimedia and allow my Apple devices to use wireless N, I’m not unsure where the issues are, either with the router or the bridge but there are significant issues with these devices when I was using them:

1.   the units never connect at 300Mbs,
2.   the units only 3 meters apart have a 20% signal strength
3.   Upnp frames are lost; no media servers are picked up
4.   Maximum throughput was 66Mbps as tested with netperf
5.   When Dlink told me to update the firmware on DAP-1522 all the wireless settings disappeared!
6.   When I reminded Dlink the units need to function as advertised with the installed software my case was ignored.
7.   Dlink are (7 days later) have yet to offer any sensible technical support other than update the firmware.

Let me be clear, it is the responsibility of Dlink to ensure their products work with the sold firmware.

These units are a joke, they never worked for me and Dlink support is worse than their hardware…. Save yoursel***reat deal of time and money, don’t buy them.

I agree. It is their responsibility to fix this thing. What did their support tell you?

Due to the extreme time in getting anything from the support desk I have in fact sent the units back to Amazon for a full refund. I have no intention in wasting any more of my life trying to get this devices working.
