DDNS settings
« on: September 22, 2010, 04:21:56 PM »

I was able to set up ftp along with DDNS before but recently I reset and reformatted my DNS-323. I try to set up DDNS again but I keep getting "updated failure" status when I save.

Silly question, is the user and password in the DDNS SETTINGS the user and pass that you signed up with the dlinkddns.com service?

Thanks. Now that is clear, I need some insight as to how I could get this working again. For all its worth port 21 is open on gateway. I can't get the ddns to resolve or update. I had friend try to use ip to login to ftp but they could not access it either.

Well, you have at least 2 issues. I'd start by getting the DDNS entry working properly first. I'd suspect your userid and/or password.

There is a long-ish thread here on setting up FTP
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=5726.0
It may help.

Once you get everything working, you may want to save the configuration to a safe place. Personally, I store all my configs for devices like this, routers, etc on a flash drive along with PDF versions of the docs. Makes it easy to recover and rebuild or replace a device.
