Firmware upgrade issues
« on: September 29, 2010, 02:33:11 PM »

I've got a DIR-655 Hardware version A4.  Been using Firmware Version : 1.32NA,  2009/07/09.  I see that there is a 1.34NA available and I tried to upgrade but it seems to fail leaving me with 1.32NA still.

The router menu offers to check for latest firmware and that shows the 1.32NA as being the latest.  Why can't I get the 1.34NA?

This covers all possibilities.  Short version is to do a hard reset then do the firmware flash.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.  Download a fresh copy of 1.34NA, your previous download may be corrupt.  Do it from here using FTP to minimize errors:   ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware/

2.  Save all your desired settings or write them down.

3.  Unhook all wired connections except for port #1 which is the station you will be working from.

4.  Remove power from 655.

5.  Reinstall power cord to 655 while holding the "reset" button on the back.  Keep the button depressed for a full thirty seconds.

6.  Now do the upgrade of the firmware from the fresh copy that you downloaded.

7.  Reboot the router and make any necessary config changes.  I suggest you do it from your notes.
