Reconnect drives after hard reset
« on: October 19, 2010, 02:34:36 AM »

Hello, please, help me: after hardware reset of DNS-323 (1.09), when I login to web-interface, web-interface requests me to run reformat of my drives. I don’t want to reformat, and when I select skip, I see web-interface, but disks are not available, I only see this disks on status page, but can’t perform any operation on them (I have 2 disks in JBOD configuration). Disk also not available try Windows and FTP. The only program which could access to disks is Twonkey – I can play content try this DLNA service.

How I could connect this disks back to web-interface, Windows, FTP?

Maybe try disabling/removing unsupported third-party add-ons first? (Twonky)

thanks, I kill twonkey and delete it

Now I can get access to DNS from Windows (works unstable) and FTP, but DNS web console requests me to reformat drives when I logon (every time). Any idea how to fix it?

Try another factory reset from the web interface

Yes I removed my disk at some point of time, but insert it in correct order (double checked).
Another reset doesn't help :(

Actually now all works fine (windows access, ftp, DLNA), except this annoying reformat prompt at every web-console logon

Your only option may be to format the drives and start again. If you have a backup of your data this shouldn't be an issue.

It may also be worth checking both drives with manufacturers diagnostics before having the NAS format them again. The fact that you are receiving the prompt indicates to me that the NAS hasn't been able to read or understand the disks correctly.
