I have an older D-Link DIR-615 wireless router that has served me well for years. This is a single band 802.11 b/g/n 300 MBPS with two antennas. I was wondering if I would benefit going with one of the newer routers with better technology (802.11ac) or HD streaming technology and having dual bands as well. I have a lot of devices going on that will connect both direct and wired: PS3 (wired connection), two HDTV's (wireless), a/v receiver (wireless), 3 cell phones (android wireless), two laptops using wireless, and two PCs (wired), internet phone etc... would I benefit greatly going with one of the newest dual band 802.11ac cloud routers like DIR-865L?
My router works good and has served well but I always want to improve speed and performance so I hope I can get some info here. I just want to know if its worth investing 180 or so for this. Can someone recommend what would be a good replacement for my needs?

Yes you can improve performance and operation with the newer class routers however some of this might depend on whether your devices can support the faster wireless connection speeds or if not, can some of the devices be upgraded or other inter connect devices like D-Link DAP wireless adapters to make a faster connection.

The new Cloud 8 series routers are very good and work well. I have the 865L and now the 868L. Also the 826L is a great router too. If you wanting to stream video better then you'll want a router that had 5Ghz support. Again, you need to ensure that your devices can either operate on 5Ghz or can be connected to something that can operate on 5Ghz.

Thanks for your response. I was looking at the cloud 8 series and would think this would work better for me.
I know the PS3 does not support 5ghz unfortunately so I may use adapters for that, but I have the new directv genie dvr that I believe will support it and I have a new Yamaha a/v receiver that I believe will also support it. Directv is an important one because I watch all HD movies and shows. Is there a specific model you would recommend for my situation? I also do a lot of cell phone wifi with apps, gaming etc....

I would think any of the 8 L series routers will handle the HD content well. I would recommend reviewing the AC Router Comparison Charts here:

The 865L doesn't have a chart however the rates between the 8 Series routers differs on each WiFi radio, So some support 300Mb on 2.4Ghz where others support up to 450Mb speed on 2.4Ghz like the 868L and 865L does. The 826L supports 300Mb on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz only. On the 836L you get 300Mb on 2.4Ghz and 450 on 5Ghz and the 855L you get 450Mb on both 2.4 and 5Ghz.
