The instructions in both the Quick Start Guide and even the User Manual for this unit really suck.  Just look at some of the posts on this forum.  Wrong IP addresses are given in the instructions, incomplete and even incorrect instructions are given.  Out of date software is shown,...  

Is there a decent step-by-step instruction anywhere?  I would also want them written in grammatically correct English.  I am on a path to return this unit unless I can get good instructions.

What are you setting it up as?

I tried bridge and was able to get it to work finally but it still times out to much so I'm returning it and going hardwired thru the crawlspace.

I unplugged my comp from the router went into network connections and changed the tcp/ip to 192.168.0.22 subnet is 255.255.255.0 and gateway should be whatever your comp reads as (use the run box>cmd>ipconfig/all) to find out

Plug Dap into the comps lan port

Pop up IE8 and go to 192.168.0.50, might need to refresh a few times but should get you there

You have to use IE8. IE6 and every other browser did nothing for me.

Thanks for the help.  

I am attempting to set it up as a bridge.  I think that is the correct mode for this application.  I want to move my (ethernet) printer to a different location and replace the ethernet cable with a wireless link.  The printer and two computers are currently attached via ethernet cables to a network hub and the hub is attached to my wireless router.  The two computers attached via the ethernet cables can print and the two additional laptops we have can send print jobs wirelessly from anywhere in the house.  Unfortunately, it is time to move the printer to a more accessible location but that location has no ethernet cabling, hence the wirelss bridge to link it into the network.

I spent the whole weekend trying to get this thing to work.  I could rewrite the manual for D-Link if they wanted to pay for the service.  I learned a lot along the way but it is still not working for me.  I suspect it will be repackaged and returned for a refund tomorrow.

Three Ways to Improve Your Wireless Network


Reason I say its helpful is that when I did it in the order he showed it worked for me. If I tried to go in any other order it would freeze up or lose connection.

I just sent mine back today, got tired of it timing out when trying to use it. As long as I didn't try to stream anything it stayed connected but as soon as I tried to stream movies it would timeout and not connect.

I was using a Linksys router so had to change IP as stated in my 1st post.

I am still unable to get this thing to work.

I am currently unable to log on to the unit even when it is hard wired to my PC.  

Once, when connected, I used the Wizard.  It eventually told me to push the blinking blue button to link up.  When I did that, nothing happened.  It does not seem to notice that the button has been pushed.  It does not wirelessly link up.  Eventually, it times out and asks if I want to retry, which is also useless.
