New to the forums here and looks like this is the best place to ask. I have read through a lot of posts and not sure what to do with this router. I am still within return policy to return this for a different model or brand but got a good deal on it so was hoping to make it work. So if by the end of today my problems are not resolved then I am going to return it.
Problem 1) I use IRC as part of my job. I have tried to use ChatZilla, mIRC, and Colloguy (mac). All 3 programs will drop my IRC connection every 5-15 min. I tried to disable SPI as others recommend but still has issues. The internet does not drop though as I have remained on phone with Skype and other internet apps remain open.
Problem 2) If I am downloading files (Either Torrent or newsgroup) My internet connection will only last 30 min before having to reset the modem. My Network stays up and the 2 computers I use to download are wired. I can view all wireless and wired computers on my network when internet goes down. I have to unplug and plug back in my modem. Not sure if this is a Modem or Router issue however only seen the issue when I got the router. Also all the lights on the modem remain on as if still connected.
Everything worked fine on my old Belkin N router but liked this router for the Dual Band and Gigabit. I bought this router to run DD-WRT but after thinking about it did not see the need to, however will consider it if it may fix my issues.
I am running Hardware Version: B1 Firmware Version: 2.03NA
I have ATT DSL with a Motorola Modem in Bridged Ethernet Mode
Please if anyone has any thoughts to what I can do to fix these issues would be greatly appreciated. I have called DLink tech support and they didn't know. The other night I did a hard reset on my modem and router and re-setup from scratch. Since then my internet connection has stayed up longer but my IRC still drops.
Thanks in Advance
