Email Notification Fails!
« on: November 02, 2010, 12:57:44 PM »

I set up my email notification configuration with my comcast email account using the same SSL SMTP port and smtp.comcast.net I use for my outlook. Everytime I try to send the logs via email, it comes back saying Toledo 255.255.255.255 then my IP, then another line it says SMTP failed. Any ideas? I turned off mcafee firewall and this did not help. Not sure whats failing or blocking what. Has to be something within the router. Any help would be great!!!! thank you!!

From Email Address: anyuser@comcast.net  (must be a comcast username)

To Email Address: anyuser@anydomain

SMTP Server Address:  smtp.comcast.net

SMTP Server Port: 25 (or 587 if 25 doesn't work)

Enable Authentication : Yes

Account Name: anyuser

Password:  <typepasswordhere>

Verify Password:  <typepasswordhere>

If that doesn't work, let me know. Have no way of testing it, on a different ISP. Details obtained from

I disabled IPV6 on my wireless card and reset my router back to factory default settings. For some reason now its working on the 587 port like I had before. Im not sure which of the two changes I made worked, but am not messing with it since its working now.

Thanks!

Yea, I don't see how IPv6 would have any bearing what so ever since the email issue is from router to ISP. You could blow your computer up and it should still work as long as nothing else was hit by shrapnel. Oh well, it works, so thats the important thing.
