Just purchased, can't get Framechannel code
« on: February 05, 2011, 03:53:53 AM »

Liking this so far, but when I go to the big orange "F" on the front of the unit and press the center button, after several seconds, I get:

"Get Activation Code Successful"

Then I press the center button and I get this big "stop sign" with a white X in the middle.

I press the center button again and I get this:

"Failed to Get Channel Data!!"

I've tried this like 10 times thinking maybe there's a server down or something, but nope.  I watched DLink's video on how to do it, so I know I'm doing it right, I just don't get the same results.  I've even pulled power for 20 sec and booted the router like 3 times just to see if that would help.  I've upgraded to the latest "stable" firmware: 2.00NA

Can anyone give me a clue to what's going on and how to make it work?

Awesome, thanks for no reply from anyone!!  Rock on D-Link tech support!!!  :)

I tried it again today just for the heck of it, and for the 50th time, and it magically worked!  I couldn't believe it.  I immediately logged on with the Framechannel code and I seem to be good.  The only difference is that I did put a hard drive in the unit.  Maybe it needs one for Framechannel to work?  I dunno.

By the way, don't ever use a hard drive inside this thing.  It gets SUPER hot.  I only had one in there for like 10 minutes and I could fry an egg on it after removal.  I put a old SSD in it for now.  SSD isn't good for these either though coz I'm sure they don't support TRIM.
