Apparently I'm one of the lucky people who received a DNS-321 NAS for xmas.  Afterwards I decided to purchase a WD WD20EARS 2TB drive for my NAS - not seeing the sticky about how DLINK at WD are at war at solving this problem.

I'm come across a members solution to this problem, which is great - http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=14484.0, however this thread tells you how to solve this problem if you are installing 2 drives into the NAS.  My problem is I only have one drive that I am formatting for this NAS (this is because I assumed it would do NTFS and i could just move drives as well).  How would one go about solving the 4k sector problem with only one drive available to the NAS?

I should mention, I dont plan on using RAID for these drives, i just want them as independent drives onces i purchase another drive for the 2nd bay.

According to that post by tentimes

It is intended for standalone drives

So I would imagine you would be fine following the instructions there for your singe drive.

The file system for these drives is created by the NAS and is EXT2 or 3. The NAS runs Linux, and these are file systems used by Linux.
