Does the Settings page use a specific port?
« on: May 28, 2008, 11:01:02 AM »

I used to be able to access the settings of my DNS-323 remotely when I has a Linksys router. Now that i have the DIR-655 I cannot.

Im able to access the FTP part remotly by using the Virtual Server settings in the DIR-655 settings and the appropriate port.

Im wondering if the settings page uses a specific port that i can Forward and then use in the address with trying to connect remotly.

I like leaving the FTP service off and only turning it on when i want.

thanks.

The settings can be accessed at port 80 if you are creating a port forwarding rule.

Please be aware that due to a lack of security, providing internet access to port 80 on the DNS-323 is not a particularly good idea - anyone familiar with the unit would be able to manipulate it and retrieve passwords, delete files, reformat the disks, etc.

yeah i was thinking about that. someone could format it lol

im going to leave it closed. If i need access I can always remote into my router and open the port.

thanks, it worked.
