Problem communicating with printer
« on: October 20, 2008, 06:58:14 PM »

Hi, everybody. I installed my DIR615 router two days ago using the CD that came with it. My wireless connection recognizes my printer Lexmark 1200 All in One, but whenever I'm going to print something Network Magic tells me it is offline. Then when I connect with it is says "problem communicating with printer" and the documento doesn't print at all. I don't know what to do since it's a wireless connection and doesn't use any cables. Please I need feedback1 :'(

Hey naniojose,

What computer is the printer connected to? Your desktop perhaps? Make sure that the sharing is setup properly and that both computers are on the same workgroup. It wouldn't hurt to remove the printer and go through the "Add a Network Printer" wizard inside windows. Post back if one of these steps fail and I'll try to find an answer for you.

Best of Luck,

So this printer is wireless linked to the DIR-615 router.  Then, it is a direct networked printer.  Steps to make sure it works always:

1) Set up IP address into the Lexmark printer network configure.  Printers need to be always found so it should not get IP address from the router's DHCP service.  DHCP service "can" give out different IP address.

2) Install the Lexmark printing software system onto each / every PC.  Follow the install guide for network connection (Yes, wireless and wired network connection work the same way.)

3) Configure the software firewall(s) to permit the Lexmark software to access thru, accessing your home network.
