DAP-1522 AP MODE DOESN'T WORK?
« on: January 06, 2011, 04:36:47 PM »

Hello my first post into this forum I hope someone can help me since I tried to contact dlink HQ in my country with no success, what happens is the following:

I have a DSL router Pirelli PDF A1000G
I have a Linksys e3000
and I have a dap-1522

When I bought a dap-1522 I thought it could do access point in fact i saw many videos in dlinktv before choosing an access point from DIY with mike etc to youtube there are 2 videos one showing bridged mode and another ap mode!

Now what happens is this I have upgraded from firmware 1.11 that came as default to 1.21 i connect it wired to my linksys e3000 when it is connected with the ethernet cable wired I can connect to the internet and navigate and open sites and my ps3 can connect to it but my range is not very good only 40%!

Now I bring it downstairs remove the ethernet cable and connect it to the power and then you can connect to it but since it isn't connected to my router which is upstairs i can't access websites neither can I play on my ps3!

I don't know does only ap mode works when it is connected to the router wired because what happens is if you don't put ethernet cables in the back of the dap-1522 and just connect it to power then here doewnstairs you can connect to the dap-1522 my signal is like 87% but while I'm connected with my laptop I can't access websites and in the ps3 I can't connect!

Edit: If you go to here: http://www.dlink.co.uk/cs/Satellite?c=Product_P&childpagename=DLinkEurope-GB%2FDLProductFamily&cid=1195808621247&p=1197318962321&packedargs=locale%3D1195806691854&pagename=DLinkEurope-GB%2FDLWrapper

and choose  access points there are (4) listed: dap-1522, dap-1160, dap-1353 and dap-2553, I thought of buying dap-1522 because it could support abgn while 1160 only supports g and 1353 only supports n to repeat to signal here downstairs and be a good access point!

I hope you can help me in here! Thanks

AP needs to be attached to router , you need bridge for downstairs . plug in PS-3 to lan and once set up (as bridge) it will connect to router upstairs and interweb .
Look through forum for how to set it up , or use emulator to familiarize yourself with setup . And use IE or you will not see setting in DAP1522

Sorry but I have spent the last 5 days to connect dap-1522 and the support team never answered my call so monday I am going to get a refund!

I have updated from firmware 1.11 to 1.21 to 1.22 to 1.30 to 1.31

Also I have disabled all things on linksys cisco e3000 aswell as the security on dap-1522 and I have tried on all firmwares doing mac cloning!

Nothing worked the access point works but I want is the bridge mode which doesn't work also it doesn't work my laptop!

So there's nothing I can do except I am going to buy 2 wireless repeaters maybe I should get good connection into my room!

Thanks for the help

To bad , it's a great bridge . one of the only ones with 4 Gb ports . pluc comp into lan , change IP  of comp to 192.168.0.20  , then log into bridge at 192,168.0.50 , set it up with ip in your routers ip range close out , reset your comp you just used to get ip auto again and your good to go .
Don't give up , been using this bridge for over 2 years now , best D-link product ever ! So far this bridge has streamed or transfered thousands of GB of info with not one trouble !

Only bridge or router that has lasted more than 1 year , most die in the first year .
