I have a dir615 C1 connected to a Westell 6100 modem.  A lightning hit nearby knocked out my dsl connection and required me to contact AT&T for assistance with the modem. After playing with settings recommended by AT&T we concluded by verifying that the modem was set to bridging mode to allow router use. For months now,the internet light was slowly flashing amber. I had internet but it would often randomly disconnect and cause resetting of the connection. I contemplated going to dd-wrt and have downloaded all the files and instructions. I decided to check the modem before proceding and I discovered that the modem was set to bridging but also dhcp services were also activated. I make no claims to knowledge but I believe there is only room for one dhcp server in this house and I want it to be the dir615. After disabling the dhcp on the modem the dir615 internet light is a steady green.

Good to know, so setting a Westell modem to bridge does not disable the DHCP server. That may come in handy if someone has a similar modem. Thanks
