..............
What I do not understand is:
- where do I enter the password that is going to be requested to the users who want to connect to my wireless network
- does it have a minimum size?
most hardware manuals these days are from people who arent good at the written word. Hence your confusion. allow me to help.
Phrase, key, shared key are all the same as PASSWORD - with the minor exception that you are allowed to have a space in your password - and hence the word phrase is introduced. But they all mean password.
this link explains things very well but it might be more than you care to know - so read it later if you wish:
http://ezinearticles.com/?What-Are-WEP,-WPA,-TKIP,-AES-and-PSK-In-Simple-Terms?&id=3684974you should try
WPA2 with AES first. thats the latest and strongest security. that choice will require a password length of at least 8. MOST laptops with builtin wireless made in the last 3 or 4 years will have this ability. Now if you find that one of your wireless devices cant handle WPA2 with AES then try WPA2 with TKIP. Next would be WPA with TKIP.
and last but not so least would be WEP. WEP works with just about everything, but its my understanding that the kid nextdoor might be able to hack it in one evening. Not too comforting.
SO I hope I helped more than confused.
