Streaming Audio from Subsonic to DSM-520 - Help with Setup

How do I get the DSM-520 to see/play a stream from a server like Subsonic on my local network?

I'm using Subsonic as the stream server, and Subsonic streams play happily on clients like VLC and MediaMonkey on other computers in my network.  When I select the same playlist file through the DSM-520's menu however, I get a few minutes of silence followed by a splash that says "play stopped" or something similar.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
