I been waiting for a possible router solution to permit an Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN Centrino adapter connect past the 130.0 Mbps limit.  I have read the forum sticky note for getting the full 300.0Mbps access speeds but I still would like to get the faster speeds.

Do you know if that Intel adapter is capable of the 40 channel width mode?

I would suggest finding an Atheros adapter to get the theoretical 300mbps.

Not true.  Intel is jumping on the 40 channel width bandwagon now. (finally) but not all of their adaptes support it.

I am trying to help someone who has this Intel adapter as part of their laptop.  They can only get 54 Mbps access speeds so far.  This is usually indicating 802.11g network access speed.  I have been searching for a router within the D-Link router lineup.  I have found another manufacturer manufacturer which seem to indicate a full access speed on their dual-band router but the person is brand loyal to D-Link.

well as I understand it the 855 has a hybrid atheros chipset correct?

then an atheros wifi card would be the best choice.

Its great if Intel is getting on the band wagon but do they have a product this person can buy today to do so?

Intel and HP (laptop manufacturer) are both recommending D-Link routers.   D-Link forms "sticky note" states that the wireless adapter can only do 130 Mbps.  So I am looking at the DIR-855 router since it seems to be the only dual band with both bands active at the same time.
