FTP no longer connecting
« on: May 05, 2010, 06:17:25 AM »

Sorry to keep beating the same dead topic.  I have read over and over what I can find and I am not making any progress PLEASE HELP ME
I have a DNS 323 that is connected through my DI 604 router.  I have been able to connect to my ftp in the past but now I cannot do so remotely. locally no problem.   I have always used IE to connect and that is what I am trying to use now to no avail.  I can connect just fine using filezilla adn or net2ftp.  I would like to be able to use IE only to make it simple for my cusotmers to connect.  I have forwarded my port 21 and it was working before so I am pretty sure it is correct  even tried doing it again.
when I type in the ftp://###.###.###.### it takes me to volume 1 I can click on the link and gotot the subfolders of that, then when I try to open the page as FTP (under the page option uin IE) sometimes I get login in screen but after entering the corrrect login info it doesnt open like it used to.  sometimes it will open but if i try to add a file to it I get an error that I dont have permission to add to the srever.  I am guessing something has either gotten changed or updated which in turn changed a setting perhaps in IE that I am overlooking anyone have any ideas?
thank you very much in advance

Can you confirm that you are able to use FileZilla externally to FTP in to your NAS and that you are then able to write to the folders? There may be a few issues here.

Check under "Advanced" > "FTP Server" that the user you are logging in as has Read/Write permissions.

Which version of Internet Explorer are you using? Have you tried toggling the "Use Passive Mode" in IE advanced settings? Or in IE8 hitting the "Reset" button to revert IE back to defaults?

Which version of the DNS-323 firmware are you running?

You might also want to try rebooting your router and DNS-323.

I am having the same issue as well.

I wish there was an option to turn off the passive switching for the server. I have checked passive mode under advanced on IE, and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

When I use my FtpOnTheGo app on my iphone, I can connect behind the router and not WAN ip as I used to. I have a virtual server 21 tcp allow all and 20 udp allow all set also on my gamerlounge.

I notice that when I'm behind the router, I will be able to connect using any program but when I connect outside I get the message from the DNS-323 that FXP can be used and when I type "ls" or "dir" I get connecting to 72.xxx.xxx.xxx from 192.168.0.2 .. any help would be most appreciated :)
