Interference can be distance, and walls, or anything else in between.  It can also be from other wireless devices such as phones, etc.

A lot more phones are using 5.8 GHz wireless, so you may have problems there as well.

If you are having trouble with signal strength as well, I recommend you use something to reflect the signal if need be, to get around corners, or to hit each of the corners in the home or wherever.

But, a good bet is that your 52 Mbps can't be sustained either because of distance from the router, or interference from other devices, or both!

If you have to go through multiple walls, plus have cordless phones, you'll surely have some issues.  You'll have to slowly remove each of those problems to see what really causes it to go down.

If worse comes to worse, and IF you don't have any other clients, you *could try* to lock the transmission rate at the maximum speed, and see if it'll help.

I do not recommend this however as it can be detrimental as far as performance goes.  You may receive signal degradation or lost packets and have lots of retransmits.  May even cause lag.  So, it's not necessarily a good idea, but also worth a try.

is there a way to make it more stable.
while gaming in counterstrike souce, it lags on and off very time.
quite distribing compared with my dgl-4300 wireless G
is there a thread to stablize the transfer and recieve speed.
i notice i am sending out alotof bytes, even though i am not surffing the web or on any online application.
thanks

Connecting at a lower speed often brings more stability then chasing the highest connection rate. Why connect at 300 Mbit internally while you only have an 8 Mbit DSL line that connects you to the online game?

speed on wireless is dynamic
btw how fast do you copy using TeraCopy?
if over 5 mb/s then its on high speed 11n
regardless of reported connection speed

btw my DIR-655 WebInterface Wireless section says its connected at 130mbps but on my vista SP1 32-bit HTPC with a DWA-140 it says 300mbps

I am still lagging in the game, how do i set the QoS for counterstrike? is there a thread for it?
I wonder is its MIMO working cos, it is works, i am not suppose to lags.

thanks

Lag can be caused by external causes too...

Hi changing,

It might help, if you log into your Router's settings and change the transmission rate to MCS 11-52[108] Mbit/s. Also try changing the Wireless Channel and pick one to give you a steady connection. Also do not use Vista's Wireless Network Manager, because I believe its top speed is 54 mbps, not 108 or higher.
