Remote functions Question Solved but Still Need Help with Video
« on: October 13, 2008, 01:37:43 PM »

Good Afternoon All,

So, I just got my new toy, and I am content with it. Personally I prefer the XBMC interface on my XBOX, but that's not what this post is about. I have a TB Seagate Hard-drive attached to the USB port, and it shows my videos OK, although there is some audio lag at times, not sure why that happens, when the videos play fine when I have it attached to my philips player. Anyway, the problem I am having is while playing video, the only function that seems to work is the stop and play buttons. Rewind, Fast Forward, Pause, do not work at all. Hell I even stopped the video, and I kept hearing the audio playing as I was going back to the main menu.

Overall, I enjoy the unit, and am looking forward to the updates, as I know anything related to Micro$oft is going to have updates. So, if anyone can help me or suggest something I would greatly appreciate it. Thanking you all in advance.

Ok, so I kind of figured out that the problem wasn't the remote it was actually the video file itself, and the way its encoded. I should backtrack a little and give a little more insight as to what I'm talking about. I have a philips dvd player with a usb port that allows me to play Divx files. My children and myself are huge Anime fans, and I encoded all my files to DivX, and although the DLink plays dag gone near everything I have thrown at it, it can't function properly, remote wise.

So, now I'm at a crossroads, I am going to have to, and I really hate to even do this, re encode all those DivX files inorder to get this unit to function the way I want it to. I know that it plays .H264 files without a hitch as I have a few of those that I have played with, and they worked without a hitch. The problem I'm having is now, and I am open to suggestions. I have a slew of rmvb files, the only way I have been able to encode them was via .h264 mp4. I was trying to get it to encode via .h264 avi, but the audio is all out of sync. So, if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it, and what software have you've been successful with. I have used xilisoft, and allok. I tried encoding in wmv, but I found out the hardway that DLink won't play older versions of wmv files. Which is downright ridiculous, but that's a rant for another forum.
