Direct download from easynews doesnt work
« on: June 29, 2008, 12:12:25 PM »

I tried to download a file with the scheduler. I copied the url, set the download path, and inputed my name and password. When I click test it fails. If I let the scheduled test run it fails. Any ideas?

If you are accessing a URL someplace on the Internet that required a username and password the scheduler will most likely not work unless it is an FTP site.

Im assuming you are accessing newsgroups or something like that?

Easynews uses HTTP basic authentication, which means you can include your username and password in the URL and it should work. Try this:

http://username:password@xxxx.easynews.com/xxxx

Just don't let anyone get a look at your download scheduler page ;)

I just tried this myself and I ran into the 120-character limit for URLs. This seems a little arbitrary... Is there a way around this limitation?

Are you able to now connect to it if you are withing the 120 character limitation you see?

I am sorry but there is currently no way around a limitation like this it would require a firmware update.
