i just got my new nas last night and everything is going good so far but i have tried setting this up and am not successful.  i own my own domain name so i tried that with no luck so i tried my isp's email and still no luck.  i don't need a different port for my domain name so that shouldn't be an issue.  any other suggestions on how i can get this to work?

I set up a gmail account specifically for e-mail notices.  Before I got mine to work, I noticed a lot of people where mentioning some odd bug.

Here's how I set mine up and it works great now:

Username: youracount@domain.com
password: youraccountpassword
SMTP Server: smtp.domain.com

Now both the Sender, and Receiver email I put as the same which was the e-mail address I wanted it SENT TO.  I put the same address in  both the sender, and receiver e-mail address.

Try that out - hopefully that works.  Understand though, that a lot of 3rd party e-mail providers block external messages due to spam issues. so you'll probably have to check with your mail provider to ensure they'll allow sending messages from an external source.

Good Luck!

hey credo,

thanks for the reply, that is exactly how i have set it up for 3 different isp's.  I am not trying to do this anon either and i know there is no issue with 2 of the providers, the 3rd one is questionable.  It looks like from another thread that there is a bug in f/w 1.06 so here's hoping Dlink will get it sorted out and make it work again

hey. If you still don't have any success, let me know and I can forward you a registration for gmail. I think the accounts are only by referral. If you don't already have an account I can send you one since it does work with gmail.

Let me know.
Good luck!

I'm on fw 1.06 - the gmail settings didn't work in 1.05 due to google updating their spam filters, and blocking any external sendmail requests...

Works like a charm for me now.
