new owner / nice product / hoping for more

nice little box - small, quiet, cute, and lots of capabilities.

curious behavior, though - if you set one folder with multiple permissions, it makes many shares with -# like share, share-1, share-2 etc, one per person. once you take the default permissions off the root you can't specify 'all users' anymore.

upnp media streaming - won't allow .wav files to be sent to the media player. my player can do .wav but not apple lossless...

itunes server - pretty cool, but it won't pass over the .wav either.

bottom line I guess I miss the flexibility of the pc based solutions and am hoping this product can get a bit better. I'm not looking forward to generating a slew of mp3s or something purely for the purpose of making this thing work.

Yeah the Apple lossless format is not supported in the UPnP AV media server and .wav is not supported in the iTunes server currently.

Its really very short sighted that multiple users cannot be assigned to a single share, or that shares cannot be named, or finally - and worse yet - users can only belong to one group!
