SMTP Client Failed To Send Email
« on: December 29, 2008, 07:59:26 PM »

Hi All,

I'm in the process of enabling log notifcations on various D-Link products that I own and am running into a problem with the DGL-4100 send emails of the log activitiy.  The following log entries appear after a few minutes:

[INFO] Mon Dec 29 22:43:06 2008 Unable to send email (send status 2)
[WARN] Mon Dec 29 22:43:06 2008 SMTP client failed to send email

I have tried the following configurations:

1) Anonymous

From Email Address : sysmail@mail.<mydomain>.com
To Email Address : first.last@mail.<mydomain>.com
SMTP Server Address : mail.<mydomain>.com *

* Internal Exchange Server

2) Authentication

From Email Address : sysmail@mail.<mydomain>.com
To Email Address : first.last@mail.<mydomain>.com
SMTP Server Address : mail.<mydomain>.com *
Account Name : sysmail

* Internal Exchange Server

I have tried the following variations for the SMTP Server Address:

- FQDN
- IP Address

I have tried the following variations for the Acount Name:

- sysmail@mail.<mydomain>.com
- <mydomain>\sysmail

In all cases, the DGL-4100 was restarted to ensure that changes were accepted.  Incidently, other D-Link products such as the DNS-323 and DNS-343 successfully send email using 'Anonymous'.

Any insight would be appreciated,
