VOIP causing Wireless Restart
« on: December 18, 2008, 06:12:26 PM »

Ok, this is a new router for me, and I am having a strange problem.  I have a Linksys VOIP PAP2T Internet Phone Adapter connected to my DIR-655.  Whenever I pickup the phone receiver I get a "Wireless Restart".  Sometimes I also get a complete reboot of the router.

Here is an example of the log messages I get as soon as I pickup the phone receiver:
Code: [Select]
[INFO] Thu Dec 18 20:35:49 2008 Wireless link is up
[INFO] Thu Dec 18 20:35:38 2008 Log viewed by IP address 10.131.167.113
[INFO] Thu Dec 18 20:35:29 2008 Above message repeated 1 times
[INFO] Thu Dec 18 20:35:27 2008 Wireless link is down
[INFO] Thu Dec 18 20:35:27 2008 Wireless restart
[INFO] Thu Dec 18 20:35:27 2008 Disconnect all stations
[INFO] Thu Dec 18 20:35:27 2008 All Wireless shut down
[INFO] Thu Dec 18 20:35:25 2008 Wireless restart

I have ALG SIP disabled, but somehow I doubt this has to do with killing the wireless access point.  I have no wireless phones hooked to my phone line, so this shouldn't be any kind of wireless interference.

Can anyone help me resolve this issue?

I forgot to mention that I have hardware ver A3, and Firmware ver 1.21.

--->Update: I downgraded to Firmware ver 1.11 and the problem does not seem to occur.  I would like to use the onboard print server feature of v1.21 so if someone can still help me resolve the issue, that would be great!

Thanks,
-Rob

Does it do the same thing when ALG SIP is enabled? Your assumption can be tested quite easily...just give it a try

Have you tried turning off DNS Relay?  (Setup -> Network Settings -> Router Settings)

There is a known problem with it in firmware 1.21 and I've read other posts where problems with SIP/VoIP have been reported.

I have tried it with SIP ALG ON and OFF.  I have also tried turning off DNS Relay; when I did this I manually entered the OpenDNS DNS servers.

My Tmobile UMA phone (cellular using VOIP over Wifi) has the same issues.  In my case the router locks up but doesn't restart by itself.  I am forced to pull the power cable.

I've tried both V1.21 from 10/9 and 11/13.  Same issue with both.  I've also tried cycling many of the functions, including WMM, Wish and Streamengine but that doesn't stop the crash.

I will try V1.11 firmware and report back.

This is the issue I have been having with my DIR-655 and I have a Rogers UMA phone. I get the wireless restart.

I have not tried V1.11 yet, as I otherwise can't really use my printer with my current setup.

So I will wait for claykin's results.
