Hard Drive(s) Scanning Failure on DNS321
« on: February 06, 2010, 02:15:27 PM »

Brand new hard drives installed (RAID-1) and SMART testing works fine. When I tried running scanning I get an error "Hard Drive(s) Scanning Failure". (Fw 1.03) Tech support wants me to believe one or both hard drives might be failing. Does anyone else has this problem? What do you recommend?

Take the drives out of the box and run the manufacturer diagnostic on them connected to your computer.  That will tell you if they're working or not.

I used the scandisk from Seagate and both drives passed without any problems.

Should I write a software trouble report to DNS-321 FW:  1.03 ?  :)

If a full surface scan with the Seagate diagnostic says they're good, I'd personally have to believe they're good. :)
