Network Shares Stopped Working
« on: February 07, 2011, 04:55:31 AM »

Hi,

I've been using the DNS-323 for a while. Yesterday the network shares stopped working since a reboot. I've tried various settings, did a factory reset, still no luck accessing the network drives.

I've been using fonz plug 5.0. I am able to telnet and I am also able to access the webpage of the NAS. Even the twonkymedia server seems to work.

Only issue is I am unable to connect to the network shares (I also tried to connect using IP address with no luck). The issue is not in the computer (windows 7) as the shares stopped working with my android phone as well.

Any help in resolving this issue is very much appreciated.

Thanks.
Sorna.

When you try to connect to your share on windows what error do you get?

e.g. if your dns-323 is on IP 192.168.1.43
You try to connect to: \\192.168.1.43\Volume_1\Media\

What error does Windows Display?

Also just to ask, have you check the file/folder permissions in the DNS-323 Configu utility?

Thanks enigmab17  for the reply.

The error I get is something like windows cannot access \\192.168.1.15\Volume_1 (when I use the IP address).

Sometimes the server DLINK170E68 is shown in the network window. But when I try to open it gives the error "windows cannot access DLINK170E68"

When I click trouble shoot eventually windows trouble shooter says that it found the problem and the problem is "The remote device or resource won't accept the connection".

I've changed the access rights and tried. I even tried a hard reset. No luck so far.

Hi,

Any clue on this problem. Strangely every things other than the network access seems to work perfectly. Configuration page access, telnet, twonky server all works fine. The only issue is I could not access drives.

Thanks.

I rebooted a couple of times. But the shares did not work.

Now, I applied the firmware again (same version), did a factory reset and re-configured everything. Shares are working again.  :)

I am curios - you have it working now, but have you tried restarting / cycling power ?  Make sure you try it and don't lose access again.  If you do, you have the same problem as me - I am waiting for my RMA...
