Can't open files containing spaces with FTP
« on: February 08, 2011, 06:50:48 AM »

Hi,

I have an issue accessing certain files on my DNS-323 with FTP. Most files open fine, but when I try to open files containing a space (e.g. "FTP Files" instead of "FTPFiles") I receive a 500 Internal Server Error with the message that an error occurred while trying to access ftp://.../Volume_1/FTP%20Files/

I hope anybody can help me with this.

Thanks

What FTP client are you using?

Normally, with a modern FTP client such as FileZilla this shouldn't be a problem.

I'm simply using Firefox or Internet Explorer to access my files

Why don't you use another ftp client (e.g. FileZilla) and compare the results?
In either case, there shouldn't be a problem (Both FF and IE work fine with my ftp server. %20 is just the space encoding in URLs). Change the client language settings in your ftp server to Unicode. That may sort it out.

Other FTP clients are hard to set up behind the proxy I'm stuck behind. I'll try the unicode thing, thank you for your help.

How do I change the file settings to Unicode. I thought this was standard anyway in Firmware 1.08 (which I have)
